Be A Mentor Announces Virtual Fundraising Campaign on Lowcountry Live
June 24, 2021
Watch the full interview between our Executive Director, Alex, and Erin Kienzle on Lowcountry Live WCIV this morning!
We believe our kids are on the "brink of success"! We support 260 students across 24 schools in the Lowcountry through one-on-one personal mentorships. Mentors, schools, and families all work together to be a "village of support" for our students. While we had to adapt during the pandemic, it has made us even more flexible and versatile. A silver lining that allows us to support more mentors than we could have before!
This week is our big Spring Virtual Fundraising Campaign, and we are so close to our goal of $15,000 that will be matched by our generous donors! That means that every dollar you donate is DOUBLED!

WWE superstar Lacey Evans: ‘Be A Mentor’ program can change lives
Dec. 4, 2020
“I think now more than ever, these kids need these mentors to be the voice that they need to hear.” – WWE superstar Lacey Evans
Lacey Evans’ own story is a true testament to how caring individuals can help shape a youngster’s future.
Her path to WWE stardom has been nothing short of amazing. Hardship is nothing new; her life to this point has been a glowing example of strength in adversity.
Her main goal, she says, has been “to show people that anything is possible.” As a business owner, an entrepreneur, a military veteran, a wife, a mother, a motivator and a WWE superstar, Evans has done just that, displaying an insatiable desire to constantly challenge herself.

Our mentor/mentee pairs provide close and meaningful relationships for both child and adult. For some students, the friendship they have with their mentor is incredibly supportive and can be the most positive relationship they have with an adult. School closures to prevent spread of COVID-19 put an abrupt end to weekly mentoring visits and it is difficult to know when schools will reopen.
Many of our mentors would like to stay in touch with their mentees during this time of social distancing. The need for support grows during a crisis, it does not diminish. Be A Mentor has now adjusted our programs and launches E-Mentoringfor our almost 400 mentor pairs! Mentors and mentees can continue their relationship for the remainder of their time apart by communicating via email using Be A Mentors guidelines. We are excited to launch an additional resource page on our website for mentors to share educational activities online that will support educational growth and personal growth.
